What Leitstern is

Leitstern is not a group assembled by acquisition. Every business here started inside the company, grew here, and now runs on its own brand, its own team, and its own market. What they share is one Portuguese entity, one standard for contracts and accounting, and a preference for steady cash flow over headline growth.

The original description of the company still holds: we develop various businesses that grow independently and benefit corporate and private clients in Portugal and far beyond. Multiple directions, in the name of flexibility and sustainability.

What the holding does — and what it does not

The holding is deliberately thin. It exists so that small teams can operate with the paperwork discipline of a much larger company.

• It provides the legal entity, accounting, contracts, insurance, banking, and shared infrastructure.
• It provides capital for a venture until that venture covers its own costs.
• It sets the standards every business is held to: confidentiality, delivery discipline, and honest pricing.
• It does not run daily operations, manage client relationships, or overrule a team on its own market.
• It does not put its own name in front of the businesses. Clients deal with Laydox, Cume, or a .house portal.

Why unrelated fields

Because they fail at different times. Desktop publishing for translation agencies is a global B2B service with steady volume and international clients. The marketplace is domestic, seasonal, and consumer-facing. Real estate is slow, high-value, and driven by buyers who are not in the country yet. A bad quarter in one is rarely a bad quarter in all of them.

That is the whole argument for the structure. It is not a synergy story, and we do not pretend otherwise: the businesses do not feed each other clients, and they are not meant to.

One entity, one standard

Everything runs through a single Portuguese company. Whether the counterparty is an international translation agency, a contractor in Greater Lisbon, or a private buyer signing a deed, they contract with the same entity, under the same jurisdiction, with the same audit trail.

What we will not do

• We do not compete with our own clients. Laydox works for language service providers and does not approach their end clients.
• We do not launch a venture on a projection. It has to start from work somebody already pays for.
• We do not carry a direction that no longer fits. A previous line of business was closed rather than kept on the website for appearances.
